Complete Astralpool APS700B fibreglass media filter, 28" tank, supplied with its side-mount multiport valve. Bobbin-wound fibreglass construction with UV-stabilised resin - non-corrosive and built for Australian outdoor conditions.

Top Mount or Side Mount? Height Is the Deciding Factor

The two FG ranges filter identically at the same tank size. The difference is where the multiport valve sits, and therefore how tall the installed filter is:

• APV (top mount) - valve on top of the tank. Simpler plumbing, smaller footprint, but taller overall and you need clearance above the tank to service the valve.
• APS (side mount) - valve on the side. Built for height-restricted installs.

At 25" the side mount saves 100mm (850mm vs 950mm). At 28" it saves 202mm (890mm vs 1092mm). If the filter goes under a deck, in a pump enclosure or beneath a bench, measure your headroom first - that measurement usually decides the range for you.

Match the Filter to Your Pump - Not the Other Way Around

Astralpool is explicit about this: the pump's flow rate must not exceed the filter's maximum flow rate. An oversized pump on an undersized filter pushes water through the media too fast to filter properly, channels the bed, and shortens the life of the internals.

APS is side mount and APV is top mount. At the same tank size they filter identically - the side mount is 100mm to 200mm shorter installed, so it suits height-restricted spots like under a deck or inside a pump enclosure.
