Supplied as a genuine AstralPool / RolaChem part, but the solution itself is a standard pH 4.0 reference buffer and is not brand-specific. pH 4.0 is one of the most widely used calibration reference values across the industry, so this solution can be used with other brands of pH probe, controller and handheld meter wherever a pH 4.0 buffer is specified.

pH probes can gradually drift as they age and are exposed to pool water, chemicals and contamination. Calibration against a known reference solution allows the controller to accurately determine the response of the probe and maintain reliable pH measurements and chemical dosing.

pH 4.0 Calibration Reference

pH 4.0 is commonly used as one of the reference points during pH probe calibration. On systems using two-point calibration, it is generally used together with a neutral reference solution to determine both the probe offset and response slope.

Calibration Procedure

Always follow the calibration procedure specified for your particular controller or meter. A typical pH probe calibration procedure involves:

1. Stop automatic chemical dosing and isolate the probe as required by the controller manufacturer.
2. Remove the pH probe and rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
3. Place the probe into the specified calibration solution.
4. Allow the reading to stabilise.
5. Complete the calibration procedure through the controller.
6. For two-point calibration systems, rinse the probe thoroughly before moving between different reference solutions.
7. Rinse the probe before returning it to service.
