Spa Ozone Check Valve – One-Way Valve for 5–6mm ID Ozone Tubing
Ozone-resistant one-way check valve designed to suit common 5–6mm internal-diameter spa ozone tubing, aka 5/16", 3/8" tubing. Commonly used in spa and hot tub ozone systems fitted with Balboa, CSN, DEL Ozone, Joyonway and similar ozone equipment.
This low-pressure 1/2 PSI ozone check valve allows ozone gas to flow toward the spa water while helping prevent water from travelling backwards into the ozone generator. A functioning check valve is an important part of protecting the ozonator from water damage.
- Physically stocked, unlike most drop-shipping websites
- Shipped from locations in VIC, NSW, WA and QLD
Important Tubing Information
These check valves are intentionally a very tight fit. The outside diameter of the barb will be larger than the tubing’s internal diameter so the tubing stretches over the barb and forms a secure, ozone-resistant seal.
Gently warming the end of the tubing will soften it and make installation easier. Do not overheat or burn the tubing.
Older ozone hose commonly becomes hard, brittle or slightly shrunken with age. Ozone can degrade the tubing material, and can cause plasticisers to migrate or break down, reducing the flexibility of the hose.
Old tubing should be replaced if it remains stiff, cracked or difficult to stretch after gentle warming with heat gun or torch. Reusing hardened ozone tubing can result in air leaks, poor ozone delivery or the tubing splitting around the fitting.

Maintenance and Replacement
Ozone, also known as O3, is a highly reactive gas that gradually attacks tubing, seals and other components within an ozone system. Ozone check valves should therefore be inspected and replaced as part of routine spa maintenance.
Replace the valve immediately if it is leaking, blocked, cracked, discoloured, allowing water to travel toward the ozonator, or no longer allowing ozone gas to pass correctly.
Installation Information
- Replacement 5mm ID spa ozone tubing is available here.
- This valve can be used as a replacement for this stepped-barb DEL Ozone check valve where the tubing size and installation arrangement are compatible.
- Use gentle heat to soften the end of the tubing before pushing it over the barb.
- Push the tubing fully over the barb to create a secure seal.
- Always use new ozone-resistant tubing when replacing components in an ozone system.
- Confirm the direction-of-flow marking before installation.
Please check the internal diameter and condition of your existing ozone tubing before ordering. Tubing that has become hard or shrunken should be replaced rather than forced onto a new valve.
