DIY and Custom Spa / Hot Tub / Pool Systems
We regularly receive requests to design or quote equipment systems for custom-built spa / hot tub / pool projects.
We cannot design, specify, approve or prepare parts lists for DIY or custom-built spa / hot tub / pool systems as it is well outside our scope as a spare replacement parts supplier.
Why We Have This Policy
A spa / hot tub / pool is a complete hydraulic, electrical, heating and water-treatment system. Pumps, suction fittings, jets, pipe sizes, filters, heaters, controls and sanitation equipment must all be selected to work safely together.
Incorrect plumbing can create suction and entrapment hazards. Drownings and non-fatal drowning incidents involving children have occurred where spa / hot tub / pool suction systems were incorrectly designed or installed.
Incorrect electrical design or installation can also cause electric shock or electrocution. Electrical work around a spa / hot tub / pool must be completed by an appropriately licensed electrical contractor.

We can assist with:
- Identifying replacement parts for existing equipment
- Supplying individual products selected by your builder or designer
- Providing available manufacturer specifications and documentation
- Quoting products from a completed equipment schedule
Supplying an individual component does not mean that HASP has designed, reviewed or approved the complete spa / hot tub / pool system.
What You Need to Do Next
Please engage a local spa / hot tub / pool builder, engineer, or suitably qualified system designer with experience in custom projects.
They should prepare a complete design covering:
- Pumps, pipe sizes and hydraulic flow
- Jets, suction fittings and entrapment protection
- Filtration, heating and water treatment
- Electrical controls and safety requirements
- Installation, drainage, ventilation and access
Before ordering equipment, ask them to provide a written equipment schedule showing the exact manufacturer, model, quantity and specifications required.
Once the system has been professionally designed, we can quote individual products from that schedule where they form part of our normal retail range.
