Genuine Laing Thermotech E-10 Spa Circulation Pump
Kept in physical stock for fast shipping or local pickup.
The Laing Thermotech E-10, also sold under Xylem, ITT Laing, Thermotech, and Goulds branding, is one of the most widely used spa circulation pumps fitted to portable spas worldwide. It is commonly used for 24-hour filtration, heating circulation, and ozone circulation applications.
This current E-10 style is commonly used as the replacement for many earlier E-3, E-5, SilentFlo 5000, SM-959, and older SM-series circulation pumps. It is well known for low power consumption, quiet operation, and compact size.
Commonly found in Caldera, Dimension One, Hot Spring, Jacuzzi, Spa Industries, Sundance, Sweetwater, Watkins, and many other spa brands. Suits standard 19 mm (3/4") hose.
Available plug options: AMP, Mini J&J Type 1 (Circ), C38 Australian 3-pin, or blank cord. Please confirm the exact plug type before ordering. In some cases, a licensed technician may be able to reuse a safe, intact existing lead.
Important: Only AMP, Mini J&J Type 1 (Circ), C38 Australian 3-pin, and blank cord versions are generally available. For other plug styles, an electrician may need to reuse the old lead or make a suitable adaptor. Damage caused by incorrect cord changes or poor installation is not covered by warranty.
Genuine Australian-approved product – certification reference ESV180553. Beware of imported lookalike pumps without Australian electrical approval.

Documentation
Warranty & Reliability Information
1 Year Return-to-Base Warranty (details here)
These are excellent circulation pumps, but they are also one of the more common sources of spa warranty claims. Most failures are caused by installation issues, restricted flow, or poor water chemistry, not manufacturing defects.
- Must be installed perfectly horizontal or the impeller can rub and seize
- Remove inline filters or strain screens before the pump if they restrict flow
- Do not use in saltwater systems
- Avoid clarifiers and flocculants that can block filters and starve the pump of flow
- Maintain balanced water chemistry – corrosive or acidic water can damage the pump and void warranty. See corrosive water damage info
- Do not cut, splice, or modify cords unless done correctly by a qualified technician
Cross-Reference & Compatibility
Commonly used as the replacement or successor for older Laing / Thermotech E-3, E-5, SilentFlo 5000, SM-303, SM-909, SM-959, SM-959-NHW-26, 68219 and similar legacy spa circulation pumps.

Additional Notes
- SM-959-NHW-26 is commonly treated as an E-10 equivalent in spa parts listings
- SilentFlo 5000 was used as a Watkins branding reference for earlier Laing circulation pump applications
- Goulds / ITT / Xylem / Laing Thermotech branded versions are commonly cross-referenced in the same pump family
Fitment note: Always compare the pump label, barb size, voltage, plug type, and mounting arrangement before ordering. Not every Laing-style circulation pump is identical.

In plumbing, named sizes are not the actual measurements. A pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm across. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Pipe Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1" | 25 mm | ~33.4–33.7 mm |
| 1.5" | 40 mm | ~48.1–48.4 mm |
| 2" | 50 mm | ~60.2–60.8 mm |
| 2.5" | 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm |
These are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure exactly what their name suggests.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate. Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly
-
Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
PVC Pressure Pipe AS/NZ 1477 Dimensions1:
Common nominal sizes with typical outside diameters and indicative inside diameters by class.
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Outside Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2" | 15 mm | ~21.2–21.5 mm |
| 3/4" | 20 mm | ~26.6–26.9 mm |
| 1" | 25 mm | ~33.4–33.7 mm |
| 32 mm | ~42.1–42.4 mm | |
| 1.5" | 40 mm | ~48.1–48.4 mm |
| 2" | 50 mm | ~60.2–60.8 mm |
| 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm | |
| 2.5" | ~73 mm |
- º Internal diameters vary slightly by manufacturer and class.
- 1 Not all pool/spa fittings match these dimensions exactly. Some do not follow Australian or international standards. Chinese spas may use proprietary fittings.
Hose & Tube Dimensions
Common flexible hose sizes used in pool/spa systems (approximate IDs).

BSP – British Standard Pipe Thread Sizes
BSP thread names are also nominal. The thread OD will not equal the nominal name.
