Edgetec suction Australian approved flow rate of 192lpm. 100mm diameter cover. Sits approx 24mm off wall of spa bath. Common on Lanark spa baths, and others. As of 2024, these are now "stark white." Female threaded wall fitting suits Edgetec suction body only.
Removing the suction face off the body:
- See images for removal of cover - It's tricky!
- There is a raised/embossed hole in the outer ring of the cover that you can easily detect with your finger. Once identified, insert a thin 'tool' such as a pop rivet, allen key, etc through the embossed hole and push down to depress the locking lever. Sometimes if you go one hole back from the raise one, it makes the face removal a little easer.
- At the same time rotate the cover 1/8 turn anti-clockwise.
- Then pull cover away from the fitting.
- Installation is a reversal except there is no need to use the rivet/pin/allen key.
- Ensure the locking lever engages and the cover cannot be unscrewed without aid of a tool.
SLP Replacement: These are now the replacement for older Edgetec SLP suction. To replace SLP suctions:
- Unscrew old SLP face from bath. The entire fitting needs to be removed.
- Clean thread and ensure the rear part with the male thread has not come away from the rear of the bath.
- Use good quality silicone on new thread and inner lip to seal against bath wall.
- Fill bath and check for any leaks. Ensure fittings are sealed. In some cases you made need access to rear of bath fitting to check for leaks.
In plumbing, named sizes are not the actual measurements. A pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm across. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:

These are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure exactly what their name suggests.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate. Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly

Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
