Flexible 9–10mm (3/8" internal diameter) spa air hose used for spa / hot tub air lines. Commonly used as the air venturi line on the back of spa jet bodies, and also for air blower lines. Sold per metre so you can order the exact length you need.
- Common spa air line size: 9–10mm (3/8" ID) for venturi air to jet bodies
- Used for: jet venturi air hose, blower airline, manifold-to-jet air runs
- Sold per metre: order the length you need (continuous length where possible)
- Ideal for repairs: replace split, loose, kinked, collapsed, or hardened air line
What this hose is used for
This hose is used on spas and hot tubs to carry air (not water) to spa jet bodies. On many jets, the venturi effect draws air through this line to mix air into the water stream. It can also be used as a blower line where an air blower feeds air into an air manifold, then out to individual jets.
Size guide
- Internal Diameter (ID): 9–10mm (also commonly referred to as 3/8" ID)
- Type: flexible spa air line hose
- Sold: per metre
Tip: Spa air line sizes are commonly quoted by internal diameter. If you’re unsure, measure the outside diameter of the barb/tail on the jet body or air manifold and compare to your old hose.
Common applications
- Jet body air venturi line (back of spa jets)
- Air blower line from blower to air manifold
- Air manifold to individual jet air spigots
- General replacement of aged or damaged spa air line
Installation notes (important)
- Hose condition: older spa air hose is often hardened or stiffened with age.
- Use gentle heat: warm the hose end with a heat gun or small blow torch (briefly – do not burn or melt it) to soften it and make pushing onto barbs much, much easier.
- Cut cleanly: use a sharp blade to avoid squashing or deforming the hose end.
- Push fully onto the barb: seat the hose past the barb ridges for a proper seal.
- PVC glue (if used): apply PVC cement to the male barb only. Do not put PVC glue inside the hose, as it can be pushed forward during installation and create a glue plug that partially or fully blocks airflow.
- Allow extra length: leave a little slack so the hose isn’t under tension. This helps prevent it pulling off the barb over time due to gravity, vibration, movement, or the hose stiffening with age.
- Avoid kinks: keep gentle bends; tight bends can restrict airflow and reduce venturi performance.
- Clamp if needed: many venturi lines don’t require clamps, but on blower lines or high-vibration setups, a small clamp or zip-tie can help.
- Air line only: this hose is intended for spa air venturi and blower lines, not pressurised water plumbing.
Common issues this can help fix
- No bubbles / weak air draw at jets (split hose, loose connection, kinked line)
- Hissing air leak behind the spa cabinet
- Inconsistent venturi action due to pinched, hardened, or partially blocked air line
- Air line popping off jet bodies or manifolds due to shrink/hardening or lack of slack
How to order (Sold per metre)
This product is sold per metre. Select the quantity to match the length required.
- Quantity 1 = 1 metre
- Quantity 2 = 2 metres
- Quantity 5 = 5 metres
We aim to supply in one continuous length where possible. If you need it cut into specific lengths (e.g., 2 x 1.5m), add a note at checkout.
FAQ
Is 9–10mm the same as 3/8"?
In spa air hose sizing, 3/8" ID is commonly referred to as approximately 9–10mm internal diameter. Always confirm by measuring your existing hose or the barb size.
Do I need clamps?
Many venturi lines don’t require clamps. However, on blower lines, long runs, or where vibration is present, a small clamp or zip-tie can be a good idea.
Can I use this for water plumbing?
This hose is intended for spa air lines (venturi/blower). For water plumbing, use pressure-rated spa flex hose or pressure PVC plumbing suited to your application.

In plumbing, named sizes are not the actual measurements. A pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm across. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:
| Imperial Name | Metric Name | Pipe Diameter (OD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1" | 25 mm | ~33.4–33.7 mm |
| 1.5" | 40 mm | ~48.1–48.4 mm |
| 2" | 50 mm | ~60.2–60.5 mm |
| 2.5" | 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm |
These are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure exactly what their name suggests.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate. Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly
-
Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).

| 1/2" | 15 mm | ~21.2–21.5 mm | 18.3 mm | 17.8 mm | |
| 3/4" | 20 mm | ~26.6–26.9 mm | 23.7 mm | 22.4 mm | |

| 65 mm | ~75.2–75.5 mm | 68.9 mm | 67.0 mm | 63.2 mm | |
| 2.5" | ~73 mm |
- º Internal diameters vary slightly by manufacturer and class.
- 1 Not all pool/spa fittings match these dimensions exactly. Some do not follow Australian or international standards. Chinese spas may use proprietary fittings.
