Genuine Fluidra / AstralPool RolaChem 700mV ORP calibration solution for checking and calibrating ORP (Redox) probes and sensors used with automatic pool chemical dosing systems.
This 100mL reference solution provides the known ORP value required to correctly calibrate the sensor and controller. Regular calibration helps identify probe drift and ensures the dosing controller is receiving an accurate ORP signal.
Supplied as a genuine AstralPool / RolaChem part, but the solution itself is a standard 700mV ORP reference and is not brand-specific. It can be used to calibrate ORP probes and controllers from other manufacturers wherever the calibration procedure specifies a 700mV reference value.

Use With Other Brands of ORP Probe
ORP calibration solution is a chemical reference standard rather than a branded consumable. What matters is the reference value the equipment is calibrated against, not the badge on the bottle.
If the manufacturer of your ORP probe, controller or handheld meter specifies calibration against a 700mV solution, this product can be used. That makes it a semi-universal 700mV ORP reference suitable for a wide range of pool, spa and water treatment ORP sensing equipment, not only AstralPool and RolaChem.
Not all equipment is calibrated at 700mV. Some controllers and meters specify a different ORP reference value, and some use a two-point procedure requiring more than one solution. Check the reference value stated in your equipment's calibration procedure before ordering.
Why Calibrate an ORP Probe?
ORP probes can gradually drift as they age or become contaminated by normal pool water deposits. If the probe reading is incorrect, an automatic chemical controller may make dosing decisions using inaccurate information.
Calibration compares the probe against a known reference solution, allowing the controller reading to be checked and adjusted where required.
AstralPool recommends checking RolaChem pH and ORP probe calibration periodically, typically every 3 to 6 months, or earlier if required.
700mV ORP Calibration
This solution is used as a 700mV ORP reference. It is suitable for RolaChem controllers and any other equipment that specifies calibration against a 700mV ORP solution.
Important: ORP calibration solution readings are temperature-dependent. Follow the value and temperature information provided on the calibration solution label when carrying out calibration.
Basic RolaChem Calibration Procedure
- Place the RolaChem controller into the appropriate manual/off or calibration mode.
- Remove and clean the ORP probe as specified in the controller instructions.
- Rinse the probe thoroughly with clean water.
- Allow the cleaned probe to stabilise before calibration.
- Place the sensing end of the ORP probe into the 700mV calibration solution.
- Select the ORP calibration function on the controller.
- Allow the reading to stabilise and adjust/calibrate the controller to the reference value specified for the solution.
Always refer to the instructions for your particular ORP controller or meter before calibration.

What is ORP?
ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential and is measured in millivolts (mV). In swimming pool automation systems, the ORP reading is commonly used as feedback by the controller when regulating sanitiser dosing.
Is ORP the same as a chlorine reading?
No. ORP does not directly measure chlorine concentration in ppm. It measures the oxidation-reduction potential of the water. ORP can be influenced by several water chemistry conditions, so normal pool water testing should still be carried out separately.
How often should a RolaChem ORP probe be calibrated?
AstralPool documentation recommends checking probe adjustment periodically, typically every 3 to 6 months, or sooner if required. Calibration should also be checked if the displayed ORP appears inconsistent with the condition or independent testing of the pool water.
Can I use this with an AstralPool RolaChem controller?

To the layperson, plumbing sizes and their names can be confusing due to the nominal sizes and naming conventions used.
This is not something we made up. Plumbers and manufacturers have used nominal (meaning ‘by name only’) sizing for decades.
Simply put, in plumbing, named sizes are often not the actual measurements of the pipe, fitting, or part. A PVC pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm anywhere. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Almost all fittings we use in the pool & spa industry use “pressure PVC” pipe & fittings. Do not confuse with “DWV” or other pipe & fittings and their names and sizes.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:

Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems and other plumbing areas so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate.
Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly

Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
