The Astralpool Solo is Fluidra Australia's new premium entry-level connected chlorinator. It does more than a conventional standalone chlorinator - as well as salt chlorination it controls filtration, including compatible variable-speed pumps, through the same unit. The 18 gram per hour model is the smallest in the range, suiting pools to approximately 40,000 litres in tropical conditions.
Chlorination
- 18 grams per hour output, adjustable
- Reverse-polarity self-cleaning cell with WWDG technology, cleaning approximately every 4 hours and adjustable to around 6
- Titanium electrode plates with ruthenium and iridium coating in a clear housing, so cell condition can be checked without pulling it out
- All Seasons operation reduces chlorine production as water temperature falls, when demand is lower
- Boost / Super Chlorinate mode for heavy bather loads, hot weather or contamination
- Spa Mode for smaller water volumes
- No-flow protection stops production if flow through the cell is not detected

Filtration and Pump Control
- Filtration control built in, so pump and chlorination schedules run from the one controller rather than a separate timer
- Compatible variable-speed pump control. Confirm your pump before ordering - a full compatibility list has not been published, and universal third-party compatibility should not be assumed
- Compatible with Fluidra's Bluetooth filter-pressure sensor, which establishes a clean-filter baseline and flags when pressure has risen enough to warrant a clean or backwash
Control and Scheduling
- Touchscreen interface for output, timers, scheduling, pump configuration, modes, warnings and equipment status
- Illuminated ring on the fascia doubles as an equipment-status indicator, with different colours and patterns for filtering, chlorinating, updates, warnings and faults. Idle colour is customisable
- Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with mobile app control
- Four configurable seasons with adjustable start and finish dates. Schedules can be set by day of week and by season, so a Monday in winter runs differently to a Monday in summer without resetting timers as the weather turns
Solo or Echo?
Solo covers chlorination and filtration. It does not include heater control, pool-light control or acid dosing - those are added by the Astralpool Echo. Full pool and spa automation, pH and ORP sensing sit with the Halo Pro system.

To the layperson, plumbing sizes and their names can be confusing due to the nominal sizes and naming conventions used.
This is not something we made up. Plumbers and manufacturers have used nominal (meaning ‘by name only’) sizing for decades.
Simply put, in plumbing, named sizes are often not the actual measurements of the pipe, fitting, or part. A PVC pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm anywhere. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Almost all fittings we use in the pool & spa industry use “pressure PVC” pipe & fittings. Do not confuse with “DWV” or other pipe & fittings and their names and sizes.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:

To reiterate, these are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure what their name suggests. These are based on PVC Pressure Pipe AS/NZ 1477 Dimensions1.

Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems and other plumbing areas so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate.
Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly

Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
