Description
Gecko MicroSpa and U-Class spa controllers were commonly used on basic portable spas from the 1990s through to the early 2000s. These systems are now obsolete, and almost all parts are no longer available in Australia. In most cases, the practical solution is to replace the complete control system rather than continue trying to repair or patch an ageing pack.
These older Gecko packs were very compact in design and are now commonly found with failed relays, burnt circuit boards, damaged sensors, heater issues, aged touchpads, and other faults associated with age, heat, moisture, and long-term use.
Important: Gecko MicroSpa / U-Class controllers are obsolete. We do not repair them due to age and the fact that most key components are no longer available. In most cases, a modern replacement spa control system is required.
Recommended Replacement Option
- SpaNET Mini SV - Recommended retrofit replacement for most Gecko MicroSpa and U-Class systems. This usually requires lead changes and minor replumbing. Can be configured for 1-speed or 2-speed pump applications, plus a blower. WiFi option available. A light can also be added.
Why We Recommend Replacing the Whole System
- Original Gecko MicroSpa / U-Class touchpads, boards, heaters, and sensors are now difficult or impossible to source.
- The old K-9 / TSC-9 4-button touchpads are obsolete.
- Even if one faulty part is replaced, another age-related failure is often not far behind.
- A modern replacement system is usually more reliable, easier to support, and makes future spare parts sourcing far easier.
- Retrofit systems can also provide improved functionality and better long-term serviceability.

- Touchpad is typically a 4-button Gecko K-9 / TSC-9 keypad - note that overlays and decals varied between spa brands

Heater Note
- 7" heaters are no longer sold.
- 10" heaters are not a safe or proper substitute in these setups and can cause damage to old old plumbing.
- If your heater or pack has failed, a full system upgrade is the correct path.

- Some spas using Gecko MicroSpa / U-Class packs may have been modified over the years. Always confirm heater length, amp supply, pump speed configuration, and sensor type before ordering.
- Replacement control systems must be installed by a qualified and experienced person.
