Hurlcon / AstralPool HX, JX & WX Gas Conversion Kits to convert selected heaters from Natural Gas to LPG / Propane or from LPG / Propane to Natural Gas.
-
You will need to know which gas valve you have before choosing a kit from this page.

These conversion kits suit many popular Hurlcon and AstralPool gas spa and pool heaters, including selected versions of the HX 70, HX 120, HX 150, JX 130, JX 160 and WX models. If your heater uses the same model family but has a different gas valve, compliance version, or production series, the exact kit required can differ.
Choosing the correct kit:
Step 1. Confirm the exact heater model.
Check the model from the heater data plate / compliance label. Do not rely only on appearance, because similar looking heaters can use different internals.
Step 2. Confirm the current gas type.
Check whether the heater is currently set up for Natural Gas or LPG / Propane.
Step 3. Identify the gas valve fitted.
This is critical. Many later heaters use a Techrite gas valve (since around 2016), while many earlier heaters used Honeywell, White Rodgers or other older valve types. On older units, your gasfitter may need to remove a panel to confirm the valve before the correct kit can be selected.
Step 4. Match the kit to both the heater and valve type.
The correct kit depends on:
- the exact heater model,
- the gas type you are converting from and to,
- the gas valve fitted now,
- and sometimes the production era / compliance version of the heater.
If you are unsure, send us the heater model details and a clear photo of the gas valve label before ordering.
Before ordering:
- Confirm the heater model.
- Confirm the current gas type.
- Confirm the gas valve brand / type.
- Have your installer verify the heater data plate and valve details.
Gas appliance work is not DIY. This kit must only be fitted, tested and commissioned by a licensed gasfitter / authorised person. Burner pressure must be checked with a manometer at the gas valve test point, gas tightness must be confirmed, and the heater must be tested for correct operation before being returned to service.
What this kit is for:
If you have an existing Hurlcon or AstralPool gas heater and need to change the heater from one gas type to the other, this kit provides the parts normally required for a proper conversion. Depending on the heater model and the gas valve currently fitted, this may include:
- main burner injectors / jets for the required gas type,
- regulator spring,
- conversion / compliance labelling,
- and on some older heaters, a replacement gas valve.
This is commonly required when a heater is being moved to a site with a different gas supply, when replacing an older heater setup, or where an installer needs to change an existing unit from NG to LPG or LPG to NG.
Suits these heater families:
- HX Series including HX70 and HX120
- JX Series including JX130 and JX160
- Selected WX models
- Some related Hurlcon / AstralPool variants using the same heater family platform
Hurlcon gas heaters later continued under the AstralPool name, and the HX, WX and JX families remain among the most common Hurlcon / AstralPool gas heater ranges seen in Australia.
What is included:
- For heaters already fitted with a Techrite gas valve, the kit includes the correct injectors, regulator spring and required labelling.
- For heaters fitted with older Honeywell, White Rodgers or similar valves, the correct kit includes a replacement Techrite gas valve as well as the injectors, regulator spring and labelling.
Kit contents can vary depending on the exact heater and gas valve combination, so the installer should always compare the supplied parts with the heater being converted before starting work.
Important Installation Notes:
Your gasfitterer is required to isolate gas and power, remove access panels, remove the burner assembly or injector manifold as required, change injectors, change spring or valve where applicable, leak test the system, then commission and adjust burner pressure using a manometer. On some versions, replacing an older valve can also mean minor changes or careful re-alignment of the internal gas pipework and fittings so the replacement valve seats correctly. All internal shields and panels must be refitted correctly.
Note: Some internal copper gas pipe may need to be adjusted or modified to suit new Techrite gas valve.
Comes with Spare Injector Nozzles -- Inspect each nozzle for correct hole size or blockage.
This is not a trial-fit product. It is a gas conversion component set that must be selected correctly and installed by a qualified person who can identify the heater version and gas valve before ordering and fitting.
Nominal burner pressure reference guide:
The table below is provided as a general reference guide only for common HX and JX models. Actual required pressure may differ depending on the exact heater, gas valve fitted, compliance version, appliance labelling, and conversion instructions applicable to that unit. Your installer must always refer to the heater data plate, conversion instructions and labelling on the actual appliance.
| Model | Natural Gas | LPG / Propane |
| HX 70 | 1.0 kPa | 2.62 kPa |
| HX 120 | 0.92 kPa | 2.62 kPa |
| JX 130 | 0.92 kPa | 2.60 kPa |
| JX 160 | 0.88 kPa | 2.60 kPa |
Important: This table is a guide only. It must not be relied on instead of the heater’s own labelling, data plate, or the instructions supplied for that heater and conversion kit.
Why valve type matters:
Many wrong orders happen because people identify the heater model correctly but do not identify the gas valve. That is where problems start. A later heater with a Techrite valve may only need injectors, spring and labelling. An earlier unit with a Honeywell, White Rodgers or another older valve requires a different conversion approach, including a replacement gas valve. That is why the valve type must be confirmed before ordering.
