Balboa BP8 Retrofit Spa Pack (Complete with Inline Heater) - The most "universal" spa control system on the market. Replaces all BP series controllers such as BP601G1, BP6013G1, BP6013G2, BP6013G3, Dominator, and SIBP601X. Additionally, it can be used to replace the GS and GL series (with a new touchpad), as well as other models like Revolution, Colossus, and Viper.
This versatile retrofit pack is designed to replace a wide range of Spa control systems. It offers 18 different setup configurations.
Supports the following configurations - Switched / controlled outputs (up to 8):
- See Setup Table (Image 2)
- Pump 1 (can be 2-speed in many setups; sometimes configured as 1-speed)
- Pump 2 (1-speed)
- Pump 3 (1-speed)
- Blower (1-speed)
- Circulation pump (1-speed, runs filtration cycles/polling)
- Ozone (either slaved to circ in circ-setups, or independent in non-circ setups)
- Spa light
- Heater (3.0kW)
- Plus 1 always-on accessory feed (not “controlled”) eg: AV
WiFi & Smart Device Compatibility:
- Works with BWA WiFi module (sold separately) for smartphone control
- Compatible with CMS WiFi and SpaTouch 4 modules

Installation Notes:
- Touchpad hole will need to be modified for most touchpad types
- 32A max load (single phase), 16A max (three phase)
- If using 3 jet pumps, it may be necessary to limit to 2 pumps running simultaneously depending on amperage draw
Important:
- Ensure compatibility with your existing system before purchase
- Not compatible with Microsilk systems
- Programming must be completed before connecting any two-speed pump
In plumbing, named sizes are not the actual measurements. A pipe called “50mm” or “2"” does not measure 50 mm across. Instead, it follows nominal sizing, an internationally-standardised naming system.
Use the Outside Diameter (OD) to check your pipe against fittings. Below is a quick reference for common spa & pool pipe sizes:

These are nominal sizes and are designed to fit matching fittings — not to measure exactly what their name suggests.
Understanding Plumbing Sizes & Nominal Measurements
Plumbing sizes can be confusing. PVC and many other pipe systems use nominal sizes—the size is a name, not the exact measured dimension. This convention is used across most pool and spa systems so that pipes and fittings remain compatible.
Why pipe sizes don’t match the measurements
The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) system standardises pipe dimensions so that pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories interoperate. Plumbers work with these nominal names every day, but DIYers can be tripped up if they try to match by a tape-measure alone.
How to Measure Pipe Correctly

Pipe size is identified by:
- The pipe’s Outside Diameter (OD).
- The fitting’s Inside Diameter (ID) (socket opening).
- Pipe Class / Schedule (e.g., Class 9, 12, 18 or Sch 40) relates to wall thickness and therefore the Internal Diameter (ID) and pressure rating.
- The outside diameter of a fitting is not useful (wall thickness varies by manufacturer).
