AMP Plug Wiring Information for Spas

AMP Plugs have become the most common method of connecting equipment to a spa controller. They have overtaken Mini JJ and most other methods of electrical connections over the last 20 or so years.

Use the images below to for wiring for pumps, blowers, heaters and other accessories to spa control systems. Both the male, and the female plugs have a locating groove to show orientation, as well as the flat faces of 2 of the pins.

Note that when fitting new leads to a 2-speed pump, that they use Black & Brown (or Red & Black) wires for the Active side of the wiring. Each manufacturer has used variations, where sometimes the Black is High-Speed, and sometimes the Brown is High-Speed, and Vice Versa. If the diagram in the pump is not there, these two wires can be swapped in the case where the High & Low speeds are incorrect.

The images below are for spa control systems such as Balboa, Gecko, Davey, SpaQuip, Spanet and others. Some spa brands may use alternative AMP wiring.

See here for AMP wiring tools, connectors, extractors, plugs and pins.

As with all electrical work, this should be performed only by a licensed, qualified, and experienced person.
