Why Plugging or Blocking Off Jets in a Spa Bath is Not Recommended

We get asked for plugs, caps, or covers for jets found in spa baths almost every few days.

  • There is no commercially available product that plugs off jets in a spa bath safely and properly.
  • Spa baths are required to have a working pump and air blower system in Australia.

There are stringent regulations regarding spa baths. This is to ensure the jets and/or air injectors can flush the lines out regularly to help prevent the growth of microbes such as Legionella.

There are hundreds of types of jets found in spa baths. There is no "universal" jet size found with spa baths.

Covering jets using silicones or other sealants just simply don't work long-term. They all end up leaking or peeling.

We recommend keeping your spa bath working as intended by replacing broken parts where necessary. If parts are no longer available your spa bath may need to be replaced.
