The Zodiac DuoX DX4000 is the middle model in the DuoX corded range, and it is the one most pool owners actually want. It plugs into a standard power point and runs independently of your pool pump, filter and skimmer, so it can clean while the pump is off and leaves end up in the cleaner rather than in your cartridge or sand filter.

Mechanically it is identical to the DX4050 iQ above it – same three motors, same Helix brushes front and rear, same 4L dual-stage 150µ / 60µ filtration, same filter LED, same caddy, same Lift System. What you give up is the 18 metre cable (this one has 15m, so 10 x 5m rather than 12 x 6m) and the iAquaLink app connection. If your pool fits inside 10 x 5 metres and you are happy pressing a button on the control box, this is the value pick of the range.

What size pool does the Zodiac DuoX DX4000 suit?

Zodiac rates it for in-ground pools up to 10 x 5 metres, which comes from its 15 metre cable. Measure from your power point to the furthest corner of the pool rather than just the pool length, because the cable has to cover the run to the water as well. If your pool is longer than 10 metres, step up to the DX4050 iQ or the EvoluX EX6050 iQ.

What is the difference between the DX4000 and the DX3000?

Three things, and none of them show up in Zodiac's spec table. The DX4000 has Helix brushes at the front and rear where the DX3000 has a front brush only; the DX4000's filter canister has an LED that tells you when it is full; and the DX4000 comes with a transport caddy. Pool size, cable length, motors, filtration and warranty are identical.

What is the difference between the DX4000 and the DX4050 iQ?

Cable and connectivity. The DX4050 iQ runs an 18 metre cable for pools up to 12 x 6m and adds Wi-Fi with iAquaLink app control and over-the-air updates. Mechanically the two are the same cleaner.

Does it connect to my pool pump or filter?

No. It plugs into a standard power point and collects debris in its own canister, so it never touches your pump, filter, skimmer or suction line. That means it can run while the pump is off, and leaves end up in the cleaner rather than in your cartridge or sand filter.
