The Zodiac Freerider FR800 iQ takes the FR500 iQ platform and adds the two upgrades most people actually notice: a second cleaning mode, and dual-stage filtration. Built for in-ground pools up to 10 x 5 metres, it runs a two-layer progressive filter – 150 micron for leaves and bulk debris, 60 micron behind it for the fine material – so the canister keeps flowing instead of blinding up halfway through a cycle.

What size pool does the Zodiac Freerider FR800 iQ suit?

Zodiac rates the FR800 iQ for in-ground pools up to 10 x 5 metres, in any shape and on any standard surface.

What is the difference between the FR800 iQ and the FR1000 iQ?

The FR1000 iQ steps up to a larger 12 x 6 metre pool rating, a third motor, a bigger 9.6 Ah battery with a 2.5 hour cycle, a 4 L canister, four cleaning modes instead of two, and a rear control screen on the robot itself. The FR800 iQ matches it on filtration – both use dual-stage 150/60µ.

What does dual-stage filtration actually do?

Debris passes through a 150 micron layer first, which catches leaves and bulk material, then a 60 micron layer behind it catches the fine silt. Separating the two stages means the fine layer does not clog immediately, so suction holds up for the whole cycle.

Can I use the FR800 iQ on a fibreglass or vinyl pool?

Yes. It is rated for concrete, pebblecrete, quartzon, fibreglass, vinyl and tiled surfaces.

Does the Freerider connect to my pool pump or filter?

No. Every Freerider is fully cordless and self-contained. It runs on its own lithium-ion battery and collects debris in its own canister, so it does not touch your pump, filter, skimmer or suction line. That also means it uses far less energy than a hydraulic cleaner.
