The Zodiac Freerider FR350 iQ is the newest robot in the Freerider family and it does not follow the usual pattern. Despite sitting near the bottom of the price list, it carries the largest pool rating in the range at 15 x 5 metres, the longest runtime at three hours, and the finest available filtration at 3 microns. It uses smart S-pattern navigation guided by sensors rather than a random path, so it covers the pool methodically instead of hoping to bump into every corner.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size pool does the Zodiac Freerider FR350 iQ suit?

Zodiac rates the FR350 iQ for in-ground pools up to 15 x 5 metres – the largest pool rating anywhere in the Freerider range, including the models above it in price. Its three-hour cycle is what makes that possible.

Why is the FR350 iQ rated for a bigger pool than the FR800 iQ or FR1000 iQ?

Because it is a different generation of hardware. The FR350 iQ uses a newer platform with a larger 10.4 Ah battery and a three-hour cycle, where the FR500 iQ and FR800 iQ run two hours and the FR1000 iQ and FR2000 iQ run two and a half. The models above it are not beaten on everything though – they add a third motor, dual-stage 150/60µ filtration, cyclonic suction and, on the FR2000 iQ, a handheld remote and trolley.

What is the 3 micron ultra-fine filter?

It is an optional extra filter that works with the standard 180µ canister to trap very fine material – dust, pollen and dead algae – that a normal robot filter passes straight through. It is worth having if your pool sits under trees or gets a lot of airborne dust. Note that the ultra-fine filter is excluded from the wearable parts warranty.

Does the FR350 iQ need a buoyancy kit?

Only in fully tiled pools. Zodiac supplies the buoyancy kit with the cleaner and recommends fitting it for optimal behaviour on tiles. On concrete, pebblecrete, quartzon, fibreglass and vinyl it is not needed.

Does the Freerider connect to my pool pump or filter?

No. Every Freerider is fully cordless and self-contained. It runs on its own lithium-ion battery and collects debris in its own canister, so it does not touch your pump, filter, skimmer or suction line. That also means it uses far less energy than a hydraulic cleaner.
